history
CASA was founded in 1995 by a group of Chinese American first-year students at Yale to focus on their experiences of being Chinese and living in America. Beginning with the small group of founders and their friends, CASA quickly grew into an organization consisting of hundreds of Chinese American students on Yale’s campus, facilitating events and initiatives where Chinese American students at Yale could meet each other and explore their shared culture. At first, CASA focused on small events such as old Chinese movie showings, dumpling nights, and ski trips. As time went on, CASA began to organize larger events such as the cultural show, hotpot night, and Lunar Ball, which drew hundreds of Yale students both within and outside of CASA.
